The Inn is somewhat lively this afternoon.

At one table, Sara is looking through a casefile while Collins plays with little Laura. He's keeping the corruption down to a minimum, since he's well aware that Sara could Dispose Of Him without anyone ever being the wiser, as far as evidence is concerned.

James is tapping the end of a quill against ( Read more... )

Good question, that. Particularly if it's crucial that the person you've been a prat to not think the apology is yet another joke.
In any case, Regulus is at a nearby table, reading something and taking notes on it. It's not homework; he's had his fill of revising, thanks very much, and doesn't plan to do any more until he's back at Hogwarts. It's just that the problem with Muggle literature is its assumption that the reader knows something about the technology it's going on about.

Near James' left hand is a genealogy tract, spanning the Potter-and-associated-cousins line. He had begun his research partially at Lily's behest, in order to see where the magical line had first begun (for Muggles dominated long before magic first began), and learned some interesting facts.

Family is supposed to be family, and he certainly had apologies to make. But fortunately for this James, he wouldn't be making amends for The Prank of all Foolish Pranks.

"What are you reading?" It's a cordial inquiry.

"Something Peter recommended. It's quite good, at such points where I have the first idea of what's going on."
But that's all right. If Peter's going to recommend something so hard to comprehend, he can put up with the questions Regulus has about its content.

"Muggle technology always confuses me," James says with a nod, "though once it is explained, it makes a certain amount of sense. Quite remarkable what they use in lieu of what they lack."

At some point, there is a plush rabbit sitting in front of the babysitter.

It's a fairly realistic looking creation, with brown fur and long floppy ears.

Collins eyes the rabbit and then the recipient. "Don't look at me like that, girl. I ain't gonna play Little Bunny Foo-Foo--not even for you."

He'll mean it right up until the point that he gives in and picks the toy up.

There's a chuckle from the fellow standing to the side.

"She's over there," Collins says after sizing him up and recognizing him from Sara's descriptions. "Fair warning, man--she's got a bad one tonight."

"There's my two favorite girls."

Sara gets a Danny, who looks tired and not very happy, but finds a smile for Laura anyway.

"Hello, beautiful."

"Hey, you." Sara looks up from the file with a grin, which promptly fades once she gets a good look at him. "What's up?"

Danny shrugs at her, taking the baby and sitting next to her. "Let's just say it's not looking like I'm gonna have one of these anytime soon."

Laura wriggles in his lap, looking supremely cute.

Sara merely raises an eyebrow. "Feel free to fill in details if you want. What's going on?"
