((OOC: I hope this is all right. It's an AU!version of Martha from beyondtherift. Just thought it'd be... incredibly amusing.))

Martha Jones had just finished telling the Doctor to take care of himself and was heading back into the medical room.

Except that the medical room is not the medical room at all. For a moment, she thinks she made a wrong turn and ( Read more... )

Jack's been lounging on the couch, staring at the ceiling. It's been a long day. (What is it with his team and their alien significant others? Possibly something he should look into. On the other hand, he's one to talk, considering past relationships.)

He does glance to the door every time it opens, though, out of habit, and seeing a certain someone step through, he's on his feet in an instant, bounding toward the door.

"Miss Martha Jones!" he says with a grin, grabbing her around the waist and kissing her. "Been a while since I've seen you."

"Des?"

It's her initial assumption upon seeing him and then he's kissing her. For a second, she still thinks it's Des and she's surprised (no, shocked) that he's kissing her out of nowhere, but it certainly doesn't stop her from kissing him back (because it's not like she hasn't thought about it once or twice when she's had time to think).

Martha kisses him back (though it isn't like how she imagined Des would kiss), until she comes to her senses and she pulls back, staring at him, really examining him.

The expressions on this face are different than Des'. And she's just apparently gone through ANOTHER bloody Rift so the likelihood that this is Des from the basement of Conrad in Chicago is about a million to one, but God she wishes it was.

"...Jack?"

Another shot in the dark.

He decides not to question her first comment right away, because that would interrupt the kissing. But when she does pull back and look at him, he raises his eyebrows at her, unable to stop a soft chuckle at the expression on her face.

"Yes, it's Jack!" he says with a laugh, still grinning. "I wasn't aware it was that easy to confuse me with anyone else and- Who is Des?"

Yes, a million to one odds.

"Jack... Harkness, right?" Martha has to be sure, because really at this point she can't be sure about anything.

"Erhm. Desmond Descant. He's a... friend. Looks exactly like you. Tosh, Ianto, Owen, me... the Doctor, too, I'd imagine. All thought he was you. At first."

Only he's not, he's very different. Except for being ancient and looking exactly alike.

It was sheer chance that the Doctor had been table to catch sight of Martha coming thought the door. He'd just come out of the TARDIS for a brief second when she came through.

It hasn't been that long for him since she'd left but still, he couldn't help but have a wide grin as be bounced over to her.

"Well look what the Inn dragged in! It's Martha Jones!" And yes, there is Doctor!hugging simply because he's in that kinda mood today.

Martha hugs him back. Because it's the Doctor and if she has fallen through another Rift thank God she doesn't have to wait another six months for him to happen to fall after her.

"The... wot?"

She blinks, looking up at him.

"Where the bloody hell are we? I mean I just saw you, but there's no way you could have gotten from there to the medical room... turned what was it again? Inn? Before me."

The Doctor doesn't think too much of the hugging, after all hugs weren't really meant to be analyzed, they were to be enjoyed.

But he's starting to change his tune when she takes that tone with him.

"The Inn," he states. "You know, that nasty little thing that likes to pull us out of our timelines and keep us for a wee bit?"

He shakes his head. "Nevermind, must've gotten you before before your first time. Oh well, enjoy it! Pretty nice for the most part. Oh sure we've got the occasional unsavory character running around but for the most part it's a nice vacation."

"No, I don't know. Never heard of it before, but I think it's a bit ironic that first I fall through a Rift to a hotel, and now I've gone through another, obviously, cause this can't be Chicago still or anywhere near it. And it's at an inn. A hotel. And an Inn. Not even the basement of the Inn from the looks of it."

Martha shakes her head to herself, absently. "My first time? How can there be more than one time?"
