You sit there in your heartache

Jan 29, 2008 03:39

Eight is not occupying his usual spot by the fire, nor is he outside or in his TARDIS.

No, today he is laying on one of the couches eyes closed as he gently tosses a cricket ball from one hand to the other.

He's not particularly looking for company.  Really, what he'd like to do is nap, but a nagging headache right behind his eyes is preventing him ( Read more... )

No way is April going to let him sit there and look not-himself all on his own. And... well, she is an odd one.

So, you know, if she lifts his head up and sits down so he's laying in her lap, cheek against her growing stomach... it's only odd if you don't know it's her.

It's not going to strike him as odd at all, in fact it might just draw out a slight smile.

"Some people just say hello but you never were one for norms, were you?"

"You looked like you could use a cuddle or two," she says matter-of-factly, and grabs his hand to kiss it, since the tummy prevents her kissing his forehead. "And I haven't seen you in a while. I missed you."

Travelling with his next regeneration isn't the same. Lovely man, of course, very sweet under that rough exterior, but not her Doctor.

((OOC: XDDDDD Martha, Ianto, and Eight listen to too much of The Killers "When You Were Young" obviously. I am amused. Apologies in advance for the tipsy Jayne.))

Jayne hasn't stopped drinking since he realized that the Inn gave you a never ending supply of booze.

So pretty much he hasn't stopped drinking since he entered the Inn.

He's not drunk yet, but he's definetly tipsy. Or getting there.

"So, wha's up with yer hair?"

((OOC: XDD Yes, yes they do. Also, that gives me the image of the three of them trying to do karaoke to that song now.))

At first he doesn't quite realize that the strange fellow who smells very much like excessive amounts of alcohol was even talking to him. He just figured the other was talking to....well, it didn't matter, as long as he wasn't talking to him.

Oh but after a moment, and a look around, a dawning of realization finally falls upon him.

"My...hair?" A hand moves to lightly touch it. "Nothing to my knowledge. Why do you smell like you've been bathing in alcohol for the last three days?"

"But 's all. Bouncy. That normal?"

Jayne grins and waves his current glass of alcohol around.

Okay. So he's drunk.

"Free! 'n Good. Real good. Don't need no other... reason."

"Yes," he states flatly. "It is very much normal."

He looks vaguely disgusted, mostly because the intense smell is making his head feel worse but also because he thinks its a waste of perfectly good alcohol.

"Yes well, perhaps someone should introduce you to a little thing called self-control. If the rest of us are lucky, you two will become fast friends."

Here, Eight.

Have a giggly, bouncy mutant. She'll slip up through the floor just near you, but when she sees you?

"Doctor?"

She moves to sit next to the couch, looking at him with concerned eyes. She'll rest a hand against one of his arms.

"Kitty?"

His eyes don't open but he smiles just a little. One hand might even move to touch hers.

"Yep, it's me."

Kitty smiles, even if he doesn't open his eyes. And when his hand touches hers? She'll take it into her own and press her cheek against his hand.

"Are you feeling all right? S'there anything I can do?"

Because seeing the Doctor like this? Different. Very different and not very good.

"I'm just fine," he replies automatically. "Don't you worry about me."

And look, he'll even open his eyes and shift around a bit so that he might be leaning against the arm of the couch.

Sorry Kitty, it might take a little more poking and prodding to get anything out of him, if you do at all.
