((OOC: Jayne is from shortly after the episode Jaynestown. SO he's nothing like where the rest of them are from. XD Makes it even more confusing for him. Joy!))

Into the Inn walks a big guy with a gun.

...

"What the ruttin' hell's this?"

He lifts the gun up in front of him twists his head 'round to look behind.

No ship.

He looks forward.

No ship.

Back. ( Read more... )

((ooc: So... going to bed soonish, but too good to resist.))

"Jayne!"

He should know that bright chipper voice. And the girl in coveralls that belongs to it.

The baby in the prettily-patterned sling against her chest? Not so much. But that's the fun of it.

"Kaylee?"

Not the ship. But the mechanic's here.

Okay.

"Where the hell'd you get a baby from? We got some kinda kidnappin' shindig I don't know about?"

Yes. Ask about the baby before you ask about the mysteriously appearing NOT ship-ness. Good thinking.

Kaylee looks insulted, and hugs the baby to her chest. "No! It's Gabriel. You remember him, right?"

There is only one seemingly good response to this.

"... huh?"

"Mmm, nice gun." Fiona leans against the back of a chair, very obviously eyeing both the new arrival and the gun.

Jayne gets a self satisfied smirk on his face as though she's talking about his penis and not his gun.

"Yeah, I know." The smirk grows into a just as satisfied grin. "You wanna touch it?"

No, Jayne, don't ask about the ship becoming an Inn. Just keep thinking from below the belt.

"Oh, can I?" Fiona leans forward, all breathless and eager.

He may be big and strong but she's certain she can take him should it come to that. It's just a matter of finding the right leverage.

All she has to do is be feminine toward him. He is weak, because he doesn't get some. Often.

(less he pays for it. *cough*)

"Maybe." Jayne may not be smart, but he has a good rememory. Really. And he can remember Saffron taking advantage of the Cap'n. Pretty women ain't to be underestimated. "If you're nice. 'n tell me where the gorram'd the ship go? Or how'd you get on it with yer big... room... thing? Whichever the case.. is."

Mal doesn't really notice Jayne until the growl. And then he glances over. Sees Jayne reaching for the gun at his ankle. Sighs.

"Jayne. Put the guns away. There's little girl's around here don't need you wavin' those around."

Granted, the little girls around here Mal knows best - like, say, Juliet - actually like guns, but... that's entirely beside the point.

As always... well, nearly always at least when they're standing face to face and a lot of money is not involved, Jayne obeys the captain. He leaves the one gun there and removes the first from his face, but not from his hand.

"Little girls?" He's actually looking around the Inn now. Hurrah. "Cap'n, what in the ruttin' hell is this?"

Mal sighs a little at the question. He doesn't want to explain this - especially to Jayne, because it's bound to be a long, circular, and frustrating conversation - but apparently he doesn't have a choice.

He'd already had a drink at his table - he thinks up a second for Jayne, and beckons him over to sit at the table with him.

"Called the Inn. Don't suppose we can leave it there?" He's not very optimistic about the chances of that.

Jayne takes a seat and sets the gun on the table.

It already literally hurts to wrap his brain around.

Or attempt to... wrap his brain around.

"Called the Inn. And it just come outta nowhere and its got little girls in it."

Please don't leave it there.

This is a Max giving him a startled look. "Holy shit! Put the gun away, man." He doesn't have to, of course. But it'd certainly make Max a lot happier.

"You gonna give me a good reason for it?" Obviously there is no gun putting away, but there's no pulling of the trigger either. "Cause all I'm thinkin' is I'm in the ship and now I ain't... and... and... that means I ain't puttin this gun away till someone gives me some kind of... explainin 'er... somethin'."

"You're in the Inn." Max is watching that gun very warily. "And hey, man, I ain't gonna shoot ya, and I really don't think anyone else is here, either. That's about all I can give ya."

"The Inn. Okay. Well. I don't make trustin' people no kind of habit or nothin'." But at least, he's leaving the ankle gun where it's at.

And he's lowering the other gun. "So you wanna do a little better job of explainin' this here... Inn. Most important, how I can get back to the ruttin' ship already?"

Ianto happens to be curled up on the very same couch as he had been before when the man enters the Inn. There's an eyebrow lifted at sight of the gun, so he will stand.

Approaching the other (and making sure he has his gun, too. Not visible, but in its holster, just in case) he'll offer something of a smile.

"It's the Inn," a glance to the man's weaponry before his calm gaze is lifted, "And I'm not so sure a bigger gun would help you too much."

Jayne raises his eyebrows and looks a bit hurt at the notion.

"But bigger guns always help."

He notices the gun in the holster, but he still lowers his own. A little.

"Now what is this ruttin' Inn? And how do I get back on the ship. I got me some money to make."

Ianto almost seems amused by the man's response. "Perhaps, but not always."

Looking about, his gaze will shift back slowly. "It's between time and space, and if there isn't a door behind you then I think it's safe to say you're rather stuck here."

He's insufferable right now, Jayne, sorry. You're going to feel the effects of it, because he has no problem messing with your head.

"Stuck? Hell no." He's angry and the gun is looking for an appropriate place to point. Jayne decides that behind him would be where to start. He had to come through somewhere. "Ain't nobody gon' go kidnappin me without my permission."

The between time and space went right over his head.
