She's not a big fan of Rose, but it's for reasons beyond the other girl's control and Martha knows that. It's not Rose's fault that Martha is constantly compared to her, standing in her shadow. And she obviously needs help.
Still it is frustrating that she's here now. In a situation she can't just walk away from.
"Rose?" She approaches, placing a gentle hand on the girl's arm. "I'd ask if you were all right, but that seems to answer itself."
She'd promised to stay with him forever? If it weren't for this rift then, she'd never have met the Doctor and... she'd probably be dead right now.
But the Doctor does not seem like someone you can stay forever with.
Promises or not.
It's just not the way he works or ever would work, Martha knows that.
"You can see him again. Here, anyway. He comes here often. And even if you never could see him, you can live again, Rose." She hesitates, feeling her heart drop to her stomach. "Even if the person you love more than anything else has been forced to forget you, you could still find a way to live. The Doctor would want you to. So you live for him."
Rose presses her hands over her eyes for a moment, sniffling. "Sorry. Just... It hasn't been long enough yet, y'know? Too... too soon."
She smiles sadly. "Try again in a couple years, yeah?"
This is probably the best moment for Rose and Martha to talk. Because right now... Rose doesn't have the will to hate her. Or even dislike her. All she can do is miss the Doctor.
"Yeah. Maybe I will." And she smiles, but it's rather sad. "Don't apologize. Just wanted to remind you that there is still light at the end and all that. It can get pretty dark though when it... feels like you may have lost him forever."
Martha sighs. "Guess you've figured it out already, but I'm... who he picks up after you." She meets Rose's gaze slowly. "He's... mentioned you before. But you know how he is... never really talks."
Martha isn't entirely sure how to react to any of this.
She'd rather not be here now, but... she is and so she'll deal with this now and sort out her feelings later.
Although, at the moment, she's a little preoccupied with the fact that the Doctor couldn't even tell her about her cousin, himself. Most of her anger is building up toward him at this point.
Martha holds her shoulders back and tightens just a little more.
"I can handle it, anyway. I've certainly handled worse when it comes to... that than you grinning over him mentioning you." She sighs. "You should stay here. Get a glass of water or something."
"The Inn's tea, you mean?" Martha asks, grateful for the subject change. "It has the best water I've ever tasted. Wonder if it's just a... quirk of this place or something."
"You think things up. Whatever you want. And Mum's tea is always the best, so that's... what I think up." She sips it, and smiles. "A lot of cream, and a lot of sugar, and a little bit of Earl Grey."
"Mm. I think I'd like a cup of that myself." Martha has been smiling a little since the mention of Earl Grey. "Y'mind thinkin' one up for me, too, just like your Mum's then?"
"Uhm," Martha blinks after taking a long sip of the tea and she presses a hand to her forehead, trying to count up the days. "I'm... not, honestly, sure. Months, more than three, at least, but I couldn't tell you how many exactly. Time gets so... tangled out there."

After finding out about Sarah Jane, when the Doctor had obviously been so close to her, and he'd never mentioned her once....
It's amazing. She can't believe it. But there it is, staring her in the face.

"Yeah. Said you were living happily with your family so as not to scare me away from following him, I suppose."

Oh. Wait. Martha... probably doesn't want to hear that.
Oh well, what's said is said, right?

She's not completely without sensitivity. She hesitates. "You probably... I should go. Leave you alone. I'll be fine."

She doesn't want to, though. And she does think up a cup of tea for herself. Just like last time.
She looks at the cup with a curious smile. "It'll be just like Mum's. It always is."

It's odd, talking to this girl. It's almost like she's in Sarah Jane's place and Martha's in hers. No wonder Sarah Jane was so snippy at first.
"How long you been with him, then?"
