Someone's got a natural talent. It ain't Mal.

The door slams open and Mal stalks into the Inn, looking extremely unhappy. He also looks... dirty. And not in the way he usually does after just coming off a job or something, because that's usually of the blood and actual dirt variety.

No, instead, he appears to be smeared with engine grease. And as he steps inside, he glances around the room ( Read more... )

Whenever the blond can't sleep, he normally tries to steer away from medication or alcohol. However, today, Chase has decided to try his luck this time around. It's something to do rather than stare at the walls or ceiling the whole time.

To see the rather dirty fellow is actually surprising. "Long day, eh?" Don't mind the thick accent, Mal, really. Thinking up a damp wash cloth, he offers it out to the other man. At least for his face, anyway.

Didn't seem like the guy was having the best of luck.

[ooc: A bit late to the game, so you don't have to reply if you'd rather not, but figured someone might as well bother good ol' Cap'n. ;P ]

Thick accents present no problem to Mal. He spends most of his life on the rim, after all. He accepts the washcloth with a nod and attempt to scrub off some of the grease. That stuff sticks like you wouldn't believe. He has no idea how Kaylee gets clean, ever.

He snorts in response to the man's comment, shaking his head a little disgustedly. "You could say that. My mechanic decides to go gallivanting off to tiān xiăodé, and now my ship won't start and we're stuck on some yuānsŏu planet 'til she gets back."

So yeah, it's been a long day.

Well.

Chase didn't know mandarin, so he could only quirk an eyebrow. Oh, Inn, you never cease to amaze him. "I s'pose that could be problematic. Sounds like y'need a break."

With a little bit of alcohol in his system, Chase seems to lose a bit of his sympathetic side. Considering he ever really had one.

Mal laughs shortly. "A break. Yeah, I could definitely use that."

He thinks up a drink - and in his other hand appears a note from Kaylee. He reads it quickly, rolls his eyes, and shoves it into his pocket. "Of course she did," he mutters, and downs the alcohol he'd just thought up. "Next time I see that girl, I'm takin' her right back home and leavin' here there."

Pause.

"Just as soon as she fixes my engine."

He wouldn't really leave her (just like thinking about setting someone on fire doesn't mean you actually want to), but oh, the thought is a nice one while it lasts.

Pretty much as soon as he comes in, Jane will deliver the following note to the good captain.

Dear Captain,

I am real sorry for having to go off like I did but my friend Gordon is dying so I went back to his world cause hes only got me and his boyfriend and I cant let him be alone and I will be fine I promise just tell Simon I will be back soon.

Love,
Kaylee

Kaylee obviously has little use for punctuation. Or contractions. Mostly 'cause she doesn't know how to punctuate or spell most of them. But she does know the basics of letter-writing!
