Buffy had been curled up in a chair with coffee and homework that would be late if she didn't have the extra time to do it in the Inn. As it is, it's probably not going to get finished anyway, given that she keeps getting distracted.
And oh, look, here's yet another distraction.
She blinks as he comes in the door, not really sure she's seeing him. But then she smiles brightly, unable to help herself. "Angel?"
"Buffy." Angel freezes, drinking in the sight of her. "This is... unexpected."
He notices the smile, but tries to ignore it. He's been watching out for her still from a distance, but he hasn't talked to her since they'd decided nothing could come of their feelings.
"Hey. I, um... I didn't expect to see you here." If she knew about the smile, she'd try to stop it, but... she's completely unaware of it just now. "Either."
The two of them could not be more awkward if they were being paid to do it.
