Date: 14 August 2001 Characters: Sirius, Molly, Quin, Tracey Status: private Summary: Sirius and Tracey watch Quin for the evening to help out Hermione while Charlie's withdrawing Completion: incomplete
Hello," Molly said. "We do. He's in the sitting room climbing his grandfather." She led the way through the door and stopped to watch Quin climbing up and down onto Arthur's lap and down to the floor while Arthur cheerfully read him a story, apparently not minding that Quin was in a state of constant motion as he listened.
"Quin," she said, "Are you ready to go play with Sirius?"
Quin started dancing in that bouncy, not-so-rhythmic way that babies do, and Sirius grinned and continued with the song, all the way through dogs and horses and cows and hippogriffs and erumpents and garden gnomes.
When he was done, Quin came over to investigate the guitar, but Sirius wasn't fast enough to catch him before he snapped his finger with the quitar string. "Are you okay, little man?" he asked, surprised that Quin didn't cry at all.
"We can sing another song. You want to help me this time?" Quin had been unsuccessfully trying to strum the guitar, so Sirius held the pick in Quin's hand and used it to play the opening bars of "three blind mice." He was going to run out of children's songs soon, he didn't know a whole lot of them on the guitar, and might have to resort to Bon Jovi soon. He had, after all, recently taught himself the guitar solo to "Dead Or Alive."
Still, he put the finger back in his mouth and used his other hand to pull the thing on the strings. Oh! It liked that better. "What is dat? Bwind? What dat means?"
He'd heard the song before, but hadn't thought about it.
