Her first lessons at Red Dragon U must have been different from his; never stay in one place too long is a lesson she's learned more effectively from them since leaving their ranks.

Eyes softening, he takes a moment to just study her face. She's so beautiful. She has no intention of going back to 2071 if she can help it. Things are falling apart there, and she knows she'd have her work cut out for her in trying to stay alive. The hunt is in earnest. As long as she stays in this time, she has Spike, she lives without the shadow of Vicious two steps behind, she has Gren. She has relative freedom.
There's no reason they have to stay at this hotel to be together.

He's never quite as warm, quite as content, quite as complete when they're apart and he knows it. He knows it real well.
