I'm at college right now. We had/have a talk about the Pacific War and Propaganda... it's so sick. I mean, I hate propaganda, guess everyone does... All those pictures about the Japanese, the vermin, the yellow peril, the stupid apes that are underdeveloped with brains that aren't functioning well because they have to learn so many kanjis that ( Read more... )

Yeah very, very, very sick. And you know, the worst is that propaganda never stops. It's everywhere. Nowadays not in those 'clothes', ne, but hiding, in the news on tele, on the street, in magazines, in commercials... everywhere. Most of the time so very subliminal. In some countries more than others. But it always is there ne.

And it's so fucking sick. All the propaganda from that time, around the wars are just so damn stomach turning WRONG... fucking bullshit. *getting slightly angry here*

I was never able to stay calm whever we talked about that in class as well.
Our history teacher once asked us whether we wanted to see a propaganda movie. We were quite uncertain about it since we thought we'd want to kill whoever produced it afterwards, but it was propaganda in favor of something, not against, which made it easier to watch.

Funnily, almost the worst thing when it comes to propagandsa - to me - are the drawings ... I mean ... it usually says everything (of course) and I will never ever be able to believe how someone can even draw - e.g. - human beings like that ...
... or whatever it is they are drawing.
(*obviously looking at both of the screenshots again*)

Well. It's a part of being a human being, I'm afraid. At least for some ... ? Well.
It's so sick.

For a long long time, Japanese have been looked upon as Untermenschen in both America and Europe. Their position is still not very favourable in America, nor here, actually. I mean, when you talk about Japanese people, what is running through most people's heads? Connotations like 'yellow' or people who can't pronounce 'r' (which really rather are the Chinese, ne, anyway, all those Asians are the same, right...), people that always show up in huge flocks, tiny people, those that always have a camera with them and take pictures of so much... [Srzly... why shouldn't you take pictures when on vacations, especially when it's to such a foreign country. =__=']

But I mean... pest, vermin... untermensch... those terms are severe. And well, not only used by Americans. It's everywhere ne. I mean the Japanese government, or military, they made the Chinese to sub-human specimen. Looking at them as being those, and no real humans, it was easy to kill them. To rape their wives and plunder their homes. And here, the Jews, ne. Or the blacks, the ( ... )

I've seen that bugs bunny thing before. At the time it really pissed me off, but when you think about it in context, every single country was using propaganda during the war, and unfounded racism was almost always the root of it...

*shrugs* I guess what I'm trying to say is the Japanese shouldn't be made out to be victims (not that you're saing that but some people do) because everyone was just as bad as everyone else, and everyone suffered equally too (with one exception of people who suffered far more, but you know who I mean ne ^^)

Most countries and people always take both roles of victims and culprits in different contexts. That I'm not only thinking about the Japanese I sort of mentioned one comment above yours.
