Robin had really had enough of today, he knew very well it was All Hallows Eve but that was no fitting reason for him to wake up with the body of a child. Nor was it reason for the only clothing that remotely fit him to be dubious yet almost familiar. "I never dressed like this," he grumbled. He hadn't even had a hat, still he had worked out what ( Read more... )

With so many people as children, Marian was herself grateful she herself was not one; nor Silence. She does, however, have an eye open for any she might know, and this one she knew and knew well.

Gasping, Marian pulls her hands to her mouth, trying to hide the laugh that is escaping. "Oh, Robin, no. Not wearing that outfit."

Robin momentarily stops pulling faces chagrined that he's been caught. But then he pokes his tongue out at her. "It was all I could get," he said trying to sound dignified but the bright green outfit and red feather in his hat meant that was quite impossible and he was so young he only sounded peevish anyway.

She knows that she is caught out in her laughing, and yet, she cannot care. "Oh, Robin, it is delightful. You look like a picture book of Robin Hood."

"I'm not sure how that adds up to delightful," he counters. He looks shifty though - something that had not come hard to him at this age or really any age. "It seems a popular costume at least," because there were dozens available in the box.

"Delightful because it is adorable, and it reminds me of both the humour of this place, and of a time that we both enjoyed greatly, she responds, with no sadness in her tone, "and because you look so sweet."

"Marian," he said exasperated - yet only sounding sulky, "take that back, I'm not sweet at all."

"I'd never noticed quite how round your cheeks were when you were that age," she is smirking very nearly, her laugh quieted for the moment. "You are very sweet looking."

"Possibly because the last time I was this age, you were practically an infant." He said moodily as if the age gap between them was much greater than two years. He pulls back his toy bow (he can't pull his real one - he did try.) "Stop staying that."

"An infant was I? You were that age when you started teaching me those wooden practice swords you had," she was taking delight from this, far too much so. "Think, if Much or Will arrived today."

"Toddler then," he said huffily because really he had started with her quite young, she'd been entertaining at least and at five Robin had seen no reason why she shouldn't learn because she was a girl. "I'd think they could wait until I'm grown again," he said clearly horrified at the prospect of anyone else seeing him like this.

"I think if I know anything about this island, it is that people will always find you when you least wish them to," and truly, this time she finds herself delighting in it.

"I suppose I could live with it if it brought someone else from home," Robin said pouting a little without meaning to. He doesn't like being laughed at.

"And if it were Guy?" she says, before she can think better of it. For all that Guy is not one of her favoured people, Marian does miss the odd friendship they had struck up.

Robin's small face clouds over - he's even less capable of hiding what he thinks of Guy like this. "Perhaps you would see him for what he truly was," he said his voice high pitched and angry. "When you see how he reacts to your happy news." See how long their friendship lasted then.
