Robin knew that it was not sensible to live on smoked meat alone, he could almost hear Much's voice in his head chastising him but smoked venison was what he had in stores - and he had rather a lot of it now that it was no longer cold. Silence comes upon the scene from atop Bonheur's back. Colette he has sent off and she has not yet returned, and if Robin were not there, he might have readied his bow at the sight of the deer.

As it is he merely reins the warhorse in, watching curiously for a moment.

Robin glances up and he turns his attention back to the deer for a moment. He is reminded of his most recent awkward conversation with Marian. But he reminds himself that Silence is not Gisbourne and he'd made a vague resolution to respect her choice. "Someone has given me a deer," he announces. "Why? And how did they keep it after the snow had gone?"

"Ah, that," Silence says. "It is the island, or the angels, or the Fair Folk, who is to know? The same gave me a fine hunting falcon. But what is the purpose of thy gift if not to be supper?"

Robin would have preferred a hunting falcon but no he had what could have been a fine meal if not for the request. "I do not know," he admitted. "But it is apparently not to be food," he pulls off the tag and holds it out for the knight to look at.
