You were fallow. That is a totally acceptable thing to be. Life often gets in the way of joy. If you found pockets of joy, that's how you contributed to fandom. If you put a smile on your face thinking about a piece of media, a character or a story that someone somewhere created, that is how you contributed to fandom. Contributions don't have to be public, or even shared, to have value. ❤️❤️
Despite having to post the challenge, I didn't participate in fandom enough to do the challenge. Like you, I had excellent reasons--different from yours, but still very good reasons--for that disinterest. (I had a favorite character write it instead, which was a different sort of challenge.)
"In 2023, you discovered: that I had no life or energy to do anything ever and as much as I love teaching it's really starting to drain me."
That might be the most important discovery anyone posted for this challenge. Teaching is a demanding job, one which has gotten even harder in the wake of the pandemic. I wish you all the best as this school year draws to a close.
