What: Az's return to the Palace/Morgan plays a dirty trick

It had been quite a long and arduous journey from the tribe in Ix's camp to the Palace entranceway, or at least to a less obvious side entrance. It was not necessary to draw ( Read more... )

Wyatt Cain heard that Az had returned by a phone call from the upper lookout, posted in the highest towers.

He strode quickly through the halls, collecting about six guards as he went. Dave counted as a guard. Especially as he was one of those "Black Ops" as DG called them, that had been trained by the Wolves.

It was only five minutes after the returning group arrived at the stables that Cain and his men (and one woman) arrived.

He paused for a minute at Az's outfit. Oh, her parents were going to love that. Jeb would alternately love and hate it.

Cain nodded to Az's current, alert but weary guards. "You're dismissed. Go get some food and rest."

He'd thank them later, when they were less likely to fall down from exhaustion.

He Walked up to Az. "Princess," he acknowledged formally with an inclined head.

It felt like they had been waiting an eternity, but perhaps that was just the lack of sleep weighing her body down. The last several nights since Cain's letter that had set her in a permanent state of panic and paranoia had been the hardest. In fact the last night she had been in Ix, she had been unable to sleep at all, despite the calming teas she had drunk. Pots and pots of calming tea. Marion and Ava had given up trying to get her to bed down for the night and they had all just spent more time preparing to leave, and had in fact left a bit earlier than had been planned ( ... )

Hugging had to be a Gale thing. It really did. There had to be some little trick in the bloodline that demanded that arms go around and squeeze whoever was in reach ( ... )

She would have grinned widely at the new nickname he used, if her mouth had not already decided to permanently be in that position. At least for awhile. As well as the fact that those at the Palace had not simply been relieved to see her go, and hoping that she would have stayed away ( ... )

She'd... done something to him. Not only had he felt warm and like his skin was too tight and limbs covered in the pins and needles of being 'asleep', but when he felt like he was falling he'd staggered and found himself still on his feet. Only he was waaaay too close to the floor ( ... )

Dave managed to get a hold of himself.

"You do know he's never gonna live this down, right? And he is gonna be so pissed. Hmmm... I wonder if he's housebroken."

Dave's dimples were showing brilliantly.

"Maybe if we get DG to rub his belly for him..."

One of the guards behind him, Jasmine, giggled. It better be Jasmine, because if one of the guys had been reduced to giggles...

"Okay people. Lets get going. We have to find our illustrious leader and keep him from getting eaten by something bigger than him. You know how those fluffballs always think they're bigger than they are and can take on anything." Dave waved for the audience to disperse.

"And while you're at it, rescue Morgan. Eventually Cain will feel guilty if he kills and eats his brother."

Dave looks back at Azkadellia, worry finally leaking into his features. "You can turn them back, right? I mean, you're sister and the rest of the female population of the palace will be out for blood."

Following the man's advice, Az eventually quieted her laughing, feeling surprisingly calm for the outburst having happened. "I should hope so, the spell was just designed to make sure he was not a danger for a bit. If his mind goes, it is entirely not my fault."

She had not intended in the least for Cain himself to be turned into a fluffy puppy, no matter how adorable. "Let's hope they don't run into Sugar or Karma. Or they might end up being carried around like their puppies, and something tells me neither one of them would be pleased." Momentarily pulling on a put out expression, she placed her hands on her hips, "This all could have been avoided if someone had just told me that I'd find Cain had a twin brother, and that he would be waiting for me when I got back."

When Dave turned serious, she shook her head. "I can't, but I don't need to. The spell will take at most three hours to revert them back to their human forms."

"Yeah, leaving out the important stuff seems to be a general problem around here." Dave nodded. "Hey, princess. Wyatt has a twin brother. Name's Morgan. Taken to calling me Morgan Junior once in a while."

Hey, if she turned him into something cute and fluffy for being a smart ass, he might get a nice cuddle.

"No one knew he had a twin. Not till the guy showed up and you're sister tried to jump him. They each thought the other was dead and you know the Cain penchant for talking about the past or painful events."

Dave smirked. "But the females and a few of the guys are thrilled to see there's two of them and one is single, randy, and actually has a sense of humor."

Oh, if he could get a picture of puppy Cain...

"Do you know anyone with a camera? We have to get this down for posterity before they turn back..."

"Morgan Junior?" she repeated with a raised eyebrow, momentarily giving him a quick look over. "You're at most a couple of annuals younger? Did he just start that young, or is he as outrageous as I hear you are ( ... )
