Scraps sent a wave of splash at Sarah and giggled. Apparently glad for a playmate.
Now all they needed was for his almost adopted granddaughter joining them.
"Sarah, don't encourage her." He scrubbed his face with his hand. "Believe me, she doesn't need encouraging."
"Right here." Scraps pointed out with a wave. "Can hear you."
Cain gave a sigh and sat on the edge of the fountain. "Scraps, you know the commotion you caused earlier in the rose garden? This is like that."
"Old ladies aren't screaming at my experiment." Scraps crossed her arms.
"You were standing on her head in a dress, Scraps. And your underthings barely count as." Cain sighed. He liked them fine on DG, but he didn't need to see them on Scraps.
"He's rather tightly wound. I've seen more relaxed tick tok people." Scraps leaned into Sarah.

"Oh I know," Sarah nodded. "And he's wound up tightly all the time... it's really kind of a pity he can't relax," she sighed dramatically, shaking her head.
If Cain could talk about Scraps while she was right there, Sarah could talk about Cain.
Boy, the devil was in her today.

"I am NOT!" Cain sounded indignant. "This isn't about me. This is about you..." he pointed to Scraps "and now you..." the finger indicated Sarah, "sitting in the fountain."
"So come on in and join us. You'll relax, and then there won't be anything to make the smooshie face over." Scraps flicked water from her fingertips.
"I don't... smooshie?" Cain looked heavenward for some inspiration.
"Sarah, Scraps doesn't know any better. I thought you might have more common sense."
Scraps stood up, indignant. "I have sense, but not cents. The same principle for public fountains was used in the first showers. The pressure from cisterns high up forced the water throught the pipes. So technically this is a shower. So there, Mr. Grouchie pants." I
