What if i hated the writing but liked the idea and the concept?

Hey Kriss!♥ If it's the style of the writing that bothers you then you should be alright. There aren't any icky voiceovers or anything. The concepts there, the plot's there but it's not from Katniss' oh-so-teenage POV anymore.

ooooo "but it's not from Katniss' oh-so-teenage POV anymore." thanks! i think i will watch it because katsa pov really is what killed the books for me i think D: i kept thinking how id probably have loved it if it was more... not from her pov? whats the word for that XD

Yeah, a lot of people found it hard to read (or just annoying) because it was in the first person and the present tense. You don't have to deal with that in the film though so you might really enjoy it. You still see a lot of Katniss but you're not stuck reading her thoughts all the time.

I'm intrigued by this series, to be honest. Today I read the first 8 chapters of the first book, and while I enjoyed the grim tone of the books and the inevitable dark stuff to come, Katniss as narrator annoys me. I'm not sure why.

I will probably see the film out of curiosity, maybe next weekend.

Yeah, having Katniss as the narrator is a bit of a pain - useful but annoying. The series has some major faults but it's compelling for all that.

I hope you enjoy the film if you do go and see it. Let me know what you think.
