There was a note on the pillow. It wasn't the most obvious place to put it, but she knew it was the first place he would look for her so she went with it.

Outside on the fire escape. Bring coffee and paper. Love, Ru
PS Blankets, too.Comparatively, as since she'd come to the first conclusion in the shower of all places, telling Sam was easy. He'd ( Read more... )

It was the first place when he didn't see her, or smell her scent strongly enough for her to be in the room.

The fire escape. He had the Needle, she had the fire escape. He's once that that there was something about them. Some thing important. Like using one some how was like taking your destiny in your own hands. All teh different uses and means to the word fire and escape right there. Right under your hands and feet for the using.

It took a few minutes for him to make the coffee, but he used the time to hunt up a pad of paper. He wondered it a writing utensil was implied. He found a pen. He liked them better than pencils even though they were impractical. Pencils sounded weird against paper.

After a few minutes he managed to jugle everything over to the window and then shoved the blankets through first. The fire escape was no joking matter to them so he brought everything she asked.

The blankets were what she wanted the most. It was nice when she first got out there, but it tumbled down hill soon after and she had anticipated it, but she hadn't acted on it. She pulled one around herself the second it touched her fingertips and pulled her legs up under it, pulling it tighter so Alec would have enough room to sit down.

She smiled up at him and closed her eyes when she smelled the coffee, her smile widening. She was freezing and she just wanted something to keep her warm. Plus? She was willing to bet her had food stashed in his pockets somewhere because she was predictable.

"Hi hon," she said as she reached up to take her mug from his hands and wrap her chilled fingers around it. "Pull up a patch of grate," she added with a soft laugh, tossing a couple books back through the window so he would have more room. She didn't need them anyway.

She needed Alec.

Her fingers brushed his as she took the mug and he unwound her half way from the blanket after setting the pad an pen on the window sill. He settled in right next to her and wrapped the blanket around both of them. Her body just wasn't alive enought o produce body heat the way it should. He never had minded lending his body heat to the task. Once they were under the blanket he slipped an arm arounf her waist. "Hey, sweetheart." The words were accompanied with that soft quirky smile of his. What ever the heavey was he'd let it lie for another few minutes.

Oh he was awfully warm and she couldn't help just sagging a little in his arms. He just had that effect on her. She didn't really mind though, where was the bad with a kitten that made her warm and fuzzy and purred when she licked behind his ear? Oh right, there wasn't.

She curled into him and rested her head on his shoulder, her forehead pressing into his neck and her hands wrapping around the mug firmly before taking a small sip, letting the hot liquid slip and slide down her throat, warming her up from the inside.

"How was work or whatever?" she asked, ever so nonchalant, but following exactly what they did everyday. Part of her craved the normalcy. The normalcy she was going to upend very quickly, the normalcy she night never get again when all of this was said and done.

But she had to try.
