Some works are forgotten because lost in the mists of oblivion really is the best place for them.

To the White Bear pub theatre in Kennington this evening to see Westward Ho, a work by Thomas Dekker and John Webster (so not the collaborative dreamteam made in heaven), which has not had a London production for 400 years.

As C. remarked when we left the Oregon Shakespeare Festival production of Troilus and Cressida a few years ago, "They did what they could, they really did, but there's a reason that's considered one of his lesser plays."

(Well, I'd seen, or for that matter acted in during school, all the good stuff, I thought, hey, something obscure! That'll be exciting! Um, no.)
