In passing

Jun 27, 2006 13:08

Was almost tempted to click on the v dubious-looking email, no subject, from merlyn@stonehenge.org. Well, you would, wouldn't you? The attachment probably gave instructions on how to recall Arthur from Avalon at England's need... Or whereabouts of stone with sword stuck in it. Or at the very least, a great offer on white samite.

I concur with her on Diana Norman, even if she was the cause of the comment I made at a Bats meet: "And of course, she was gangraped on the high altar, as one is", with all the Bats solemnly agreeing, and a random strange male passing by blanching.

Who else is old enough to remember her Kitchen In the Corner?
1967?
And who else is sentimental enough to own a 1969 gift copy?
Are gas rings still allowed in bedsits?

I have a copy under title 'Cooking in a Bedsitter'.
Microwaves these days, I expect. Does one even see gas-rings anymore?

That's my doubt! I can't believe that we all had them and never thought twice about fire risk, leak risk and so on. I'm sure that they wouldn't be legal now.

Or a very nifty offer for spending some time in a rural, apple-growing environment, hobnobbing with female royalty and not dying?

Pass on the samite. It costs a bomb to dry-clean.

'Stains on your samite? Try LADY OF THE LAKE cleaners for all your delicate fabrics. As recommended by Morgan Le Fay.'

I am utterly snerkling about the Arthurian spam...and, re. the other, yes: this is why I get most of my best childrearing advice from my mother and my Nana, and we all murmur "Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose" at one another.
