And very high up the list are credit card companies whose various departments don't seem to communicate with one another. There's a nice tort called slander of credit, when people impugn your credit rating. Sometimes it's amusing to mention this to the senders of dunning letters.

And they may be in breach of the Data Protection Act. It doesn't actually matter whether they are or not, because they won't understand how it works either. It all sows terror and consternation though and can help to get people's minds concentrated.

That is actually useful: it's providing Helpful Information rather than saying 'You should do X' (which tends to have the subtext that 'eny fule would do X').

What a good icon for this sort of thing. There are definitely days when I feel like this icon looks.

And after being run-around various depts of bank/credit card subsidiary (because the Complaints, aka Customer Care, people Don't Do Credit Cards), I think the matter may be resolved, and relevant sum credited at last to my accounts. Though will believe this when, and only when, I see them (or the broker's men kick down my door and distrain the furniture).
