Specify which star. There are 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone, ranging from 8.31 light minutes away, which would be Earth's sun, to over 8,000 light years away.

Stars are not together. They're spread around galaxies. Asking where the stars are can really only be given an unquantifiable "outer space."
