Finally - a preview of the cover of Doug Adams' book "The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films". The dust jacket illustration by Alan Lee is of a very emotional moment in the films...

Can't wait to hear/see the full details! :D

Plus: TORn has posted some more LotR Archive clips, this time from the 2002 Oscars.

video, books, lord of the rings

Thanks for the link to the book cover. I think the sketch should be on colored paper rather than white, perhaps a beige background. I'm thinking of the drawings at the end of ROTK on the beige colored background. I think the white is too stark.

I'm not sure I'll be interested in this book. I can't understand what he's writing about. If there are some excerpts from it later, then I can decide if I want to buy it, or not.

Hmmm yes, those gorgeous sketches... Probably the gold lettering will look better with the white background though. I'm sure it will be lovely on the actual product.

Do you remember the booklets that accompanied the Complete Recordings versions of the LotR soundtracks? They were written by Doug Adams, and I guess you could describe the book as a Very Extended Edition of those booklets - with tons more additional content. :) The very brief description from one of Doug's other recent entries about the book:

What I can tell you is that we have a 416-page hardcover book packed with music examples, score pages, film stills and artwork from John Howe and Alan Lee. Living in the back cover is a 23-track CD featuring unused, alternate, and early-draft music from FOTR, TTT, and ROTK ... and even a little discussion with Howard Shore and myself. The book and CD will be released this fall in a single package available worldwide.
