As a child I thought Switzerland had snow all year round, and people had to ski everywhere instead of using cars. Maybe I wasn't too far off.

Up here you always have to expect snow - I've seen snow in every month of the year. Of course outside of (and in some rare cases, even during) winter proper, it disappears again soon, but it's still so annoying. You can never put away your winter clothes and shoes for good!
