Need help with decorating ideas

 I really could use some help.  I wasn't able to get into on-campus housing because they ran out of spots.  At the last minute, I had to find something close and cheap, which I did,  but  I could use some suggestions on how to decorate and such.  Its a basement room and really big ... 18 x 22 ...  but as you can see from the picture there isn't

Definitely paint. Maybe in the areas where you won't be using messy art supplies do some carpet tiles because concrete+winter=cold.

Yes I'm planning on painting but still thinking about colors. There are quite a few different colors in my bedding, so I have a few options.

I don't know what that square surface behind the bed is, but if you put your bed next to it, you could use it as a side table. and paint that awful wood (paneling?) some rugs or carpet will warm the place up too.

yes, i was definitely planning on using a few rugs. I wanted to focus on adding life to the place through rugs and wall decorations.
