Title: Tolerance
Rating: G.
Genre: Romance / Humor
Pairings or Characters: Fuyumi x her Fiance, and mentions of Kyoya.
Warnings: Fluffy to some extent.
Summary: Fuyumi realizes just how lucky she is to have a husband so readily willing to keep pace with her.

She’s more fortunate than most young women her age who possess the same lack of skills that she does.

“Anata,” she calls sweetly from the kitchen, “I’m sorry but I burned your pork again for the tonjiru again! Want to eat out tonight? Sushi, maybe?”

Her fiancé just sighs, amused instead of frightened like he used to be until he got to know her, and stands behind her, seemingly relishing her clumsiness versus attempting to fix it. “I don’t understand why you don’t just let me cook, Fuyumi, since we both know you can’t, anyway. Just give it up.”

“But I’m going to be your wife!” she whines petulantly. “I need to cook for my husband.” She pouts her lips and tosses him her best repentant stare, hoping he’ll instantly forgive her and let her try again another day.

He rolls his eyes and starts to wipe the counter down, and is surprised to see that some bits of the pork are stuck to the counter, while others have turned to cinders, and he suddenly feels as though he’s wading through a swamp.

“Sorry!” she says again, rocketing down the hall to fetch the mop to wipe down his shoes. “I spilled some of it on the floor, too.” She begins to wipe it across his shoes, but then realizes he may already be stuck to their brand new tiles. “I really do apologize!”

He just laughs and steps out of the shoes. “It’s fine. Let’s just leave the mess here and go somewhere less hazardous to eat, okay?”

“But what about your shoes?”

“I think they’re a lost cause at this point. And look, it just proves that I’m head over heels in love with you, right?”

They smile at each other, giggling immaturely at the poor attempt at a joke. It’s then that she realizes just how lucky she is to have such a man in her life, brightening her day even when she manages to block out the sun.

“Thank you,” she whispers before lightly kissing him. For some reason, as she steps out the door with him to their car, she wonders when (or whether) her brother, Kyoya, will find someone like this.

Well, maybe not someone like herself, since he doesn’t seem to tolerate clumsiness, but perhaps a girl that will make him smile and take all the pressure he feels right off his shoulders. Then she briefly wonders if maybe he already has. She grins at the thought, and decides it best to tease him about it later.

“What are you plotting, Fuyumi?”

“Oh, nothing. Hey, mind if I invite my brother?”

“Uh, I guess not.”

“Good. Care to join me in pestering him about girls?”

He smirks wickedly, and she feels lucky once more as she takes his hand in hers.

It does, after all, take a lot of menace to keep up with an Ootori.
