OOH. I think I've been waiting for someone to make a post like this one.
First, Myers-Briggs personality test. Take it as them and see if the result fits, what's inconsistent, etc.
Second, love languages. I've recently discovered them [well, it's been a couple months...] but I think about them constantly. There are five: physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts and acts of service. I think if you can outline which fit with your character or vice versa you've got a lot of their personality made.
And one more, a question: if you could control one thing in your life, what would it be? I have SO many more of those things stored up but I think that's a good one. *shrugs*
What is your favorite physical feature? Least favorite physical feature? Why? Do you feel comfortable in your own skin, or is there a lot you'd like to change?
Is there anything you wished you'd inherited from your parents, but didn't? Do you have siblings? If so, do your parents have an obvious favorite? Do you have a favorite brother or sister?
If you could turn back time, and change one thing about your past, what would it be? What do you wish you knew about your future? What are you glad is still a mystery?
Which period/place in history is your favorite? (Yes, this is something about people I find fascinating. Yes, I'm weird.)
If you could spend one day anywhere in the world, where would you go? What would you do? Who would you bring along?
What was your first best friend like? Are you still friends with that person?
Hope this helps--most of these are a bit stupid really, but they're the sorts of things I like finding out about people/characters. I'll probably come up with more when I'm not quite so tired. Cheers!
What is your worst memory? Have you known anyone who has died? How's your relationship with your mom? Do you have many friends? Why or why not? What do you buy at the mall? Are you a nighttime or daytime person? Like any sports? What would you most like to do on a rainy day? What's your diet like? Is your house a mess?
My brain is not functioning well enough to think of anything myself. But, there was a character interview form I found a couple of years ago that I reallly like, and which I have used for my own characters. There are some pretty good qustions on it
