Hermione notices the little things about Severus.

Hermione has spent more time with Severus Snape in the past few months that she ever thought or hoped she would. Severus hasn't become much more civil to her than he had been when she still attended Hogwarts, but Hermione isn't surprised.
What did surprise her is how knowledgeable he is. She often looks up from her research to tell him something she finds that seems to be relevant, and he just as often explains to her why it has nothing to do with anything without even looking up from his own work. She's known that he's not stupid, but she had never expected him to know so much.
The silence in which they work is not awkward. At least, not anymore. They're working toward the same thing if not working together, and somehow, that makes the silence seem purposeful. Hermione has often caught herself looking up during a break in poring through 14th century texts containing miniscule writing and watching Severus, eyes intent upon some fine detail of his features like his long fingers tracing words on a page, his thin lips pressed together in concentration, or a number of other things that have no reason to fascinate her but do so anyway.
Hermione likes to look out of a window at night. Sometimes, she sees a dark shadow quickly moving across the moonlit grounds, and she knows instinctively that it's Severus even though the moonlight never reveals his features.
Hermione isn't sure, but she thinks she's in love.
