PetSmart usually does keep pretty good care of their animals, I think that too. At my store though, the rodents are kept right next to the snakes and I'm not sure what to think of that.
At the PetSmart that I go to, they have one sad aisle cap of reptiles, and actually very rarely have much more in the tanks than a sad $200 turtle. And it's like four aisles over from the rodents. It's obvious that the mice and rats at PetCo are in bulk like that because they're meant to be food, and that just makes me sad.
i've only been to pet smart a couple times...but one of my friends pointed out she likes it too...we were at another pet store where it's so tiny the animals are all...on display pretty much-in smaller cages and she pointed out that at petsmart they have open pens for their puppies so they can run around and stuff but omg, that place sounds awful, to even have a dead mouse and not even notice? i would buy animals from there just to get them out of that environment!
My PetSmart doesn't have puppies that you can buy, but their shelter cats always look satisfied with the amount of room they have. And like I said, all the smaller animals have plenty of room and their environment doesn't look uncomfortable at all. Even regards to the people who work there, when I got my first rats, the guy we spoke to owned rats himself and told me most of everything I had to know, where the workers at PetCo gave us ugly looks and complained out loud about how messy the store was.
In regards to buying pets to save them, however, that doesn't do much for the overall problem except show the company that someone will buy them, and they'll only be replaced by new ones. Trust me, I always want to buy them to save them, which is why I have stopped going to PetCo altogether.
that's horrible-obviously if the store is messy it's the staff's own fault...and like for the noise...realise that already before you go work there. they're animals, of course they'll be noisy
yeah, it's more like animal advocacy groups need to get on their case (though maybe they already do) ...and find someone crazy enough to break&enter and steal all the poor animals for a better life >>;
