Hey, the USA leads the way in all sorts of things, including idiocy, right? I'm not one to laugh at religious beliefs, even if I don't agree with them, but when people deny the evidence of their own senses they invite scorn and ridicule(yes, one can see that the world is not flat... or that there are fossils of 'pre-historic' creatures dating from before the creation myth of the judeo-christian bible...)

Religion and science can and should co-exist... and religions need to accommodate scientific fact, while pressing science with regard to ethics and morality.

Ironically, Islam was a great force in science once. The "Koranic" scientist is wrong to identify free-thinking with modernity. Islam's great achievements of the past were due to one thing: tolerance. Intolerance breeds ignorance.
