probably. I'd have your more-technically inclined other half take a look at this before you try it on your machine, though. I haven't yet tried installing WINE on the eee pc. It *should* only take up 26 MB. mad-scentist's howto seems to be aimed at Ubuntu users--and the eee pc runs xandros.

I've already dropped about twenty bucks on the service, though. What were the first few things I got?

And a couple of albums:

  • "Boban i Marko" by the Boban Marcovic Orkestar. (Absolutely kick-ass Balkan brass band music. Particularly awesome is Mere Yaara Dildara, which is a cover of a Hindi Bollywood song. So imagine the awesome transcultural jam that is Bollywood music, as played by a Serbian brass band, but with some real funk swagger. This stuff is HOT.
  • "Leaving Through the Window," by Something Corporate. Yeah, yeah, I know. Terribly adolescent stuff. But, y'know, I saw them live in '01 and really liked them.

I should have added: although both Ubuntu and Xandros are derived from Debian, the three are not interchangeable. So a solution that works in one might work in all three, or it might not. But even if it fails, you're in the right ballpark. Kind of tough to explain through my christmas break insomnia.
