The internets are abuzz with the latest "dirty tricks" to come down the tubes. It would appear that Joe Lieberman's campaign website has been ha4Xx0r3d!

From the placeholder page: UPDATE ON THE ATTACK ON THE LIEBERMAN CAMPAIGN WEBSITESTATEMENT FROM SEAN SMITH: "For the past 24 hours the Friends for Joe Lieberman's website and email has been totally ( Read more... )

I'm inclined to believe that it was done by someone outside either campaign, who just didn't like lieberman. some idealistic punk kid. like chris. or you.

;)

has there been a case of one campaign hiring people to go around town and take down an opponent's roadside signs? 'cause that would be just one step back...

a step back certainly that they had to *hire* people. Any halfway-decent candidate should be charismatic enough that his goons do that sort of low-level vandalism for free.

I'm thinking of putting up a longer post about the system of primary elections, and my doubts about it. watch this space.

I support the 2nd (or 3rd gunman) theory. According to this blogger http://www.beepcentral.com/blogs/bindex.aspx?ubid=1357, Lieberman's anti-gaming voting record led to his rejection. I highly doubt that gamers en masse caused his defeat. The 18-25 demographic well known for gaming habits is also pretty apathetic to the political process. Though, it is highly likely that some 'Pixelante' in the anti-Jack Thompson vein took it upon himself to vandalize the campaign. Lieberman's track record on video games has made him many enemies in the gamer culture. There is your motivation and capability right there. Though, if it were a young gaming hacker, I would have expected some bragging of 'pwned' by now.

Chalk another one up to ineptitude. The Inquirer broke this one: http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33604. Looks like Lieberman's Internet Tube got clogged. It's a real shame. I sent him an internet the other day. I hope he gets it.
