I acctually like my asparagus microwaved. I take it and break the ends off, put it in a bowl with a sprinling of water and microwave for 2-3 min and drain right away (it needs to still be crisp tender, not mushy) then I toss with either butter, lemon juice and a light spinkle of garlic powder if i am feeling lazy or a home-made balsamic vinegrette made on the thick side with balsamic, grainy mustard, olive oil, brown sugar, salt, peper and any other herbs and spices i feel like.
I can't stand the taste of balsalmic vinegar. I am amazed at how many recipes call for it, and how many people use it. It is quite foul to me. Everything else sounds spiffy.
