Perhaps a bit more duplication, but yup that's the general idea. It's a hybrid of the blocking technique in a couple of rounds back coupled with vibrant colours. Hope that helps.

It doesn't have to be exactly like a kaleidoscope! Think extreme boxing + vibrant colours.

It's just blocking and vibrant colouring, which I've seen around a lot in the real life iconning fandom but also in the animanga one now. For example something like fiendie's AC set when she did the Grimmjow/Ichigo claim here or twinstrike's Blur and its alternates here or astrokittie's icons that features duplicates like 1-5 here.

Basically it's a combination of duplication and/or blocking and vibrant colours. Sorry I assumed everyone would think this was a commonplace technique since I've personally seen it around alot, but apparently not XD; I hope this made it more understandable.

Yes, that's perfectly valid too! We're always quite open to different interpretations for the themes, most likely whatever you submit we would accept tbh XD! So don't be scared off even if the themes seems hard ♥

5 icons of what has to be my least favorite trend in years. This should be...fun.

You don't have to block, you could just duplicate XD? Sorry, ik it's challenging for iconmakers like you who prefers cleaner and less busy icons, but I hope you will take the challenge and own it!

I will attempt to rise to the challenge and hope it doesn't come out too terribly. You wouldn't know of any tutorials for blocking or what not that I could cut my teeth on would you?

Sorry I don't look at tutorials these days so I wouldn't be able to point you to any. But in general for blocking where only one image is use, I think most people perform the majority of the colouring and background of the base image in 100x100 form (just as if they are making a normal icon). And then they copy/merge and duplicate, resize and rotate that image as they see fit on a new 100x100 canvas. That's how I would tackle it anyway XD! If you find it easier you could possibly also work on a bigger canvas and then resize it in the end, like a smaller tumblr image or something?

Let me know if you need more help w it!
