Thanks for the translation. It seems that from now on (more or less) novels and anime will take different paths so we'll have a lot of new stuff ^^

There will be lots of new stuff! Novel 10 is the first novel that didn't exist when the anime started, but this novel seems like it's where the stories officially start to branch off~ I know the anime 100% branches off with the whole Franschire thing which is a bit past this part, so there will probably be little things here and there in the novel that made it into the anime~

Thank you so much for translating this! I have been reading your posts for a while now and never commented because I forgot my LJ account's pass. I just wanted to tell you that I am so glad you are doing this! All the references, explanations, musings. I love them all just as much as I love the story itself. Not to mention I have given up on ever reading the end of Novel 8.

I know I am absolutely no one, but aside from the wonderful job you did with the translation and all the hard work checking up on the references I would really like to know your personal opinion on the story itself. I do realise that it is a selfish request to ask you to share it and waste even more time, but I personally would love hearing your own opinion on everything: characters, situations, differences between the anime and the novel.

Please ignore this message if it is tedious. I really just wanted to thank you for your hard work.

Hmm... Well, if the author created Belal with a purpose like that, I think he's more of a contrasting character than an example of what Yuuri could have been. Like, he's there to show how incredibly different Shimaron is compared to The Great Demon Kingdom. Belal is the first real ruler and person that occupies the same social stratum as Yuuri that we've been introduced to. Flynn doesn't really count ;P As for why the anime Belal is different, I'm guessing that explaining everything would have occupied too much screen time for the story they planned for the anime. So, they just made him a more stereotypical evil dude. In the grand scope of the anime, he was actually a pretty minor character
