Awesome. I'm glad you're writing Kavanagh stories again. I liked that Kav actually has some friends among the other scientists. I liked how much of a jerk McKay was in the fic. And I liked Colonel O'Neill's scene with Liam.

Your wish is my command. :) The second part of the first story has just been posted. There will be one more part to "Redemption", then I'll move on to "Descent" - eventually.

McKay was, actually, an even bigger jerk in SG-1. What I wanted to show was that he and Kavanagh weren't all that different, actually. It's just bad writing that has made Kav everyone's whipping boy - that and fannish idiocy that makes everyone a villain who dares to speak up to the stupid main characters.

I thought O'Neill would be the most understanding towards a small boy who is likely to miss his father. And since he's almost next-door neighbour to the Kavanaghs, it seemed logical to me that he would befriend the kids. In the show, he always showed great affinity for children.

I think it's great you're writing this, and best wishes with it. I think I won't catch it all as I have two kids of my own and I'm afraid the last thing I want to do with my spare time is read anything with kids in! I'm really sorry about that, I am, because, hello, Kavanagh fic? But anyway. Also, believe it or not, I've never seen much SG-1, or at least not enough to make any sense of fic related to it. Crazy I know.

Don't worry, I understand not wanting to do any more with kids than I have to. I just happened to give Kav these two as part of his background, not because I wanted people to feel sorry for him.

As for not watching SG-1, well, everyone has his or her favourites, right? I'm a devout SG-1 fan - that's perhaps the only TV-show where I like all main characters, and that's a rare thing for me. I also love writing What if?-stories, where only a little aspect of canon is changed, which seems to confuse the average reader greatly, because for them an AU ought to be drastically different, and when you just change a bit of canon you're committing canon violation, obviously. [/sarcasm].

Anyway, thanks for dropping by. The next part will be still a bit family-lastig, but the following chapters will be hopefully more action-oriented, with Kav off-world and in all sorts of dangerous situations. :)
