I have to say I really liked the character Sergeant “Dusty” Mehra.

Gwen had her heart in the right place, shame she had to sorta go at it the bad way.

Jack still not awake?!?!?!?!

looking forward to the next chapter :)

Gwen has a heart? Do tell me...

No, Jack's still not awake. Remember how long it took him after Abbadon, and being eaten by Wraith is even worse.

Yeah, I'm sorry for Dusty, too, but *someone* had to die in order to make the whole scenario believable, and killing off a nameless "redshirt" would be too cheap...

lol, she wouldn't let them leave Jack (for her own nefarious purpose, no doubt about that)

Yep, getting all that vortex energy sucked out had gotta be painful.

Oh I agree, it was better with a known character then a random one. Gave more emotion to the story if I do say so myself.

You know, I always found that they dealt with Jack's revivals way too easily. Yes, he does come back every time, but he also dies every time, and dying is messy and painful and horrible - especially if you know you'll have to go through the same thing again and again. I don't think he'd be so cavalier about it as he sometimes seems in the series.

Yeah, Gwen does have her nefarious purposes... or perhaps not. I'm not sure, I sometimes tend to think that she's simply stupid.

I'm so sad that you killed Dusty. She's an awesome character. I like that you grabbed onto the weird dichotomy of Gwen's character in the show -- her abject belief in not killing aliens coupled with the times she does with little to no hesitation. I also like how proactive the expedition is in the after affects of the death of the Wraith hive.

You know, the strange thing is that Dusty's death wasn't planned. I haven't even planned to give her such a big part - she was a one-time guest character on SGA, that's all - but she simply nailed the scene and behaved in a way that made her sacrificing herself for the others the only logical step.

Gwen is such a hypocrite it isn't even funny!

Losing Dusty is a huge blow - I was really getting to like her, especially the way she dealt with Gwen

Hmmm, Gwen. She did sort of rescue Jack, but not in a quiet and efficient way. I can't help thinking Dusty would've done better with her Zat.

Poor Ianto - hope Jack recovers soon, Ianto must be devatated!

Also, worrying that other hive ships may be awakening, which would not be good at all.

Minor point - the past tense of strike is struck, not stroke. I had visions of them gently caressing the wraith - most disturbing!

Ugh, thanks for the correction. Sometimes I think I'll never be able to learn this impossible language properly. Why must it be so frigging complicated?

Yeah, Dusty would have done better than Gwen, but wouldn't anyone? I'm sorry for her myself, but...

And Jack's recovery won't be quite that easy, I'm afraid.

The only reason I'm any good at English is because I am English - it's a ridiculous language but it's the one I grew up with. I am completely and utterly unable to learn any other language. I took French for 5 years at school and never got anywhere with it! You have occasional wonky bits, but your English is excellent, so don't let it bother you. You write better English than a lot of supposedly English writers!

Poor Jack, I hope you'll try not to be too harsh on him - remember, it means Ianto suffers too and I'm sure you don't want that ;)

I only had 3 years' worth of English lessons, and that was 15 years ago. Everything else I gathered from reading and watching TV, as I have nobody to talk in English with. So yeah, I know I sometimes try to use it as I would use German (my second language), and it turns out funny. Feel free to point out the wonky bits, so that I can correct them. Spellcheck can only do so much for a foreigner...

Don't worry, I'd never torture Ianto longer than absolutely necessary. ;)

Some things will be revealed, soon, but this series has a long way to go yet.

Like I told you before, I actually cheered for Gwen in this chapter.

I'm very sad that Dusty died, she's awesome.

I like that they're going immediately back to planning the next step in Atlantis, planning for the future. It gives the air of a very organized, well-managed expedition. They're out there in an hostile and unknown galaxy, they can't control most factors there, but they're doing their best to cope with it.

You know, the funny thing is that I didn't actually plan for Dusty to die. OTOH, as much as I feel sorry for her, I think the impact is harder than if some nameless redshirt would have bitten the dust.

That's true. In a way, she had to die for the sake of the story - but I still feel sorry.
