The last village in Moscow - Terekhovo

Terekhovo is the last village in Moscow on the territory of Horoshevo-Mnevniki region. According to the government resolution, the village is planned to be demolished.

Terekhovo has a long history. It was first mentioned in the cadasters of 1644-1646. Nowadays there are 31 houses and 87 inhabitants registered in the village. It doesn't have water ( Read more... )

Seriously? They're going to demolish it??? Seems to me they should be rebuilding it. They can make newer, more fireproof homes, and there are things they can do to help protect the village from flooding. Why don't they consider that? And they could rebuild to make it look like it used to look. That would be so cool!

I also think so, but they think it's much easier just to destroy everything than to repair... It's a pity... This village could be a beautiful quiet place in the crazy city Moscow :)

Those of us who know Moscow mostly from reading 19th century literature will image the countryside around it still looks just like this--minus the tall buildings on the horizon, of course. Thanks for bringing us up to date. I hope Terekhovo survives.
