Sand Sculpture Festival "World Famous Fountains"

The 10th unique sand sculpture festival was opened on the territory of All-Russian Exhibition Centre on the 28th of April. During two weeks festival participants were creating scaled-up, scaled-down or real size copies of famous fountains located in Russia, Great-Britain, Italy, Spain, France, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and other countries. For example, Manneken Pis Fountain (Brussels, Belgium), Delle Tette (Treviso, Italy), Fontain of Bees (Rome, Italy) and many others. 14 sculptors and about 40 assistants created all these beautiful art works - 20 large figures, half of which flow. Sand fountains will be available for spectators until September 30, 2011.

Fontain of the beautiful Artemis at Villa d'Este in Italy
There are many sculptures in one of the most beautiful parks in the world "Villa d'Este".
The most famous one is the fountain of the ancient Greek goddess the Beautiful Artemis.
The original statue is located in Ephesus (Turkey), where the Temple of Artemis
(one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) was sited.

Manneken Pis Fountain (Brussels, Belgium)

The sculpture, which depicts a naked little boy with a quizzical glance urinating into the marble fountain's basin is the main sight of Brussel. The copy is 10 times larger than the original sculpture, which is 24 inches high.

"Delle Tette" (Treviso, Italy)

The Fontana delle Tette (literally “Tit Fountain”) was created in 1559 and used to be a fountain with water springing from each statue's nipple. On special occasions, the water was replaced by wine.

The Merlion Fontain
This mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish is a tourist icon of Singapore. Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea and "lion". The fish tail symbolizes ancient city Temasek ("sea" in Javanese) - the primary name of Singapore. The lion head represents the city's original name (Singapura) meaning "lion city".

Triton struggling with a seamonster (Summer Palace, Peterhof, Saint-Petersburg)
The monster is depicted as a crocodile with a huge fish tail. Four turtles are running away from the place of the fight.Bubbling jets of water are gushing from the open mouths of the monster and the turtles. The sculptural composition symbolizes the victory of Russian navy at Gangute.

And these are different free sculptural compositions created by the participants of the World Championship of Sand Sculpting from Russia, Ukrain, the USA, Mexico, Spain, Finland, India, Poland, Mongolia and others. Some of the art works are not finished yet.
