I keep wondering how and where and why...

WConfession time. I was a much bigger Archie fan than a Cook fan. From the first few seconds of Crush, I was sucked in. I listened to his album obsessively months and months before I picked up David Cook's disc. I love his voice, his song choices, and his music style ( Read more... )

THE BIG FONT MAKES THIS WHOLE THING.

GUH, YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE ALBUM ARE WAY MORE COHERENT THAN MINE.

This is a neat post and thanks for putting it together.

Uh, the big font was not intentional. That'll teach me to not preview before posting, I guess.

My Kind Of Perfect threw me for a loop on multiple levels. I think it shows how much he's grown. I like that it ends the disc on kind of a haunting, "we're really just getting started on this journey" element. And yeah, it reminded me a bit of "I Bet You're Beautiful", which is one of the things I love about it, because honestly, there are not enough songs in this world about longing and waiting (and conviction that you're going to find) The One. :)

My girls are super into Elevator right now. It's catchy as hell, and I find myself walking around humming it.

Adam will sing Elevator out of the middle of nowhere and it cracks me up.

Earworm!

There are shades of IBYB in My Kind of perfect for sure. I love that waiting, longing, hoping kind of message. Delayed gratification instead of instant satisfaction.

1. I'm so glad you kept the trainer description. I SO KNEW IT WAS ABOUT TOSOD TOO. So good.

2. I agree. If I could sum up my summer of 2010, it would be through SBL.

5. This entire description made me want to cry. It is perfect. Everything I have ever wanted to say about this song.

...and I love that it just came up right as I started to type that. HAHA.

8. ELECTROGASMIC WONDERLAND. HA. OMG BEST. EVER. YES. THAT IS WHAT THIS SONG IS.

9. I think this song is my My Hands off of this album. I will hit repeat on this every single time I hear it. I NEVER WANT TO NOT BE LISTENING TO IT. (Idek what that sentence is.)

10. GIRL. Complain is one of the ones I skip~~. I agree. It doesn't feel like a song off of THIS album. It sounds more like his first album to me.

12. The album ending on a whisper. Not a bang. OMG. I'M CRYING. IN THE MIDDLE OF BORDERS. FU. THIS. THIS IS DAVID ARCHULETA WRAPPED UP IN ONE COLLECTIVE THOUGHT. So perfect.

Girl. This is love.

YES. THIS. SO. HARD. Odd how Falling Stars fit so well and this didn't.

Good Place has been on repeat one on my phone for a week. I can't stop listening to it.

Fitness trainers...I am insane.

I AM GLAD YOU LIKED IT. I edited a lot of ~~feelings out of it, ha.

He is sort of whispery, even if he's totally bangin', y/y/mfy??

Fitness trainer AU. Do it.

I want to read all of your feelings though. I love them.

He is SOOOOOOOO banging.

And this is why I am PG13.

I want to do a review too but I think I'd just be like EVERYTHING MEGAN AND RONE SAID. REFER TO THESE POSTS.

I actually just found out like.. three days ago that he had another album :-[

I was always a bigger David fan, but I love Cook's album more. Weird, I know.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE DC's album - both of them - and they're always in heavy rotation. But Archie's style is closer to my heart, I've always been a big pop fan.

It's well worth checking out, if you get the chance!

I love your review!

I was not expecting to like the album very much. It's kind of one of the reasons why I didn't bother to hear it early (DCook puts out tracks on AOL early? I'd be a junkie, and you wouldn't be able to tear my away from my computer). I've been listening to it every chance I got for the past couple of days though, and now I think it's incredibly catchy and enjoyable. I can't really decide which is my favorite. Maybe Look Around for now, with just that one line "When you close your eyes to see the view", which I'm just crazy about.

It's so amazing to think that it's minimally autotuned - how many other artists could pull off some of these songs, and we know that he can (most of the time) handle singing these songs, because he's been doing it for a while now.

Know what else I like about this album? It's totally school appropriate. Thanks Archie, for giving me a CD I could play for my kids sometime. :D

(Sorry for the edit. Sentence fragments and incoherance are now resolved.)
