Haha I bought a pre-paid phone here. It's switched to English, but you can still type in both languages (texting in Japanese is taking some getting used to...) It's pretty handy though - it has (admittedly limited) bilingual dictionary built-in, and Japanese phones have this infrared thing that you can use to beam your contact info to other phones instead of standing around tediously typing in names and numbers. It's seriously awesome :D
sounds like you're learning a lot and adjusting really well :D not to mention having a good time and I'm sure seeing a bunch of awesome things :D not that I was really at all worried yout *wouldn't* adjust like right away :P hahaha

Sidenote, you normally attend CMU? I visit there twice a semester to see friends. The world may ACTUALLY be small.
