Ugandan gay activist slain after photo published

KAMPALA, Uganda - A prominent Ugandan gay rights activist whose picture was published by an anti-gay newspaper next to the words "Hang Them" was bludgeoned to death. Police said Thursday his sexual orientation had nothing to do with the killing and that one "robber" had been arrestedBull.Fucking.

Eh, I wouldn't assume that your roommate is doing that sort of stuff. I have a protestant friend who actually helps out a lot with Uganda through her church and they have nothing to do with the anti-gay sentiment. They are sort of preoccupied with dealing with stuff like...starvation, civil war, kidnappings, disease, etc etc. I even attended a couple of their meetings about it- there was nothing about destroying the gays going on.

There's a lot of church groups doing good things there, this Evangelical group just gives them a bad rep. If you are truly worried, maybe ask her about what sorts of things she is trying to help with in Uganda? But I'm betting she has nothing to do with it, otherwise you would've had issues with her way before now.
