A few last Newbery books

I have finished reading I, Juan de Pareja in Spanish! Because I am boss! And have therefore completed all the Newbery books from the 1960s!

We had to read Sounder in elementary school--or maybe I didn't, but my siblings did (but I think I did, too). At the time, I didn't like it much.

I am not surprised. It's a good book, but it's a very harsh and unfriendly picture of the world; I don't think I would have liked it as a child either.
