Okay people, if you're not already reading this WIP on KMM you really should be. I was going to wait til it got further to rec it, and perhaps I ought to do so, but I have SO MANY ~FEELINGS about it right now, I can't help myself.

Panic. Aww. I've always sort of wanted to see them live, but I've never anted up. I've read a bunch of good feedback on the current tour, I'm sure you'll have a kick-ass time. I'll share a few of my fave PatD fic if you give a link for the Halloween vid...?

An FYI - when I recommend an author I'm usually giving a thumbs up to all of his/her work, but I'm just really fond of the one or two I've pointed out.

Sunsetmog's HS AU series: starts with You Can Sit Besides Me When the World Comes Down, with the sequel Running in Slow Motion. I'd also highly recommend a parallel story in the same universe, which should be read before Running in Slow Motion, L.O.V.E., with Ashley Simpson and always-a-girl Pete Wentz (my one quibble with L.O.V.E. would be the author's decision to do a gender swap for a women in bandom fic).

There Ain't No Cure for Love by fiddleyoumust. Brendon/Spencer. They're in HS still, so adorable.

Hard to Believe in Sundays by torakowalski. Jon/Ryan. Angsty, filled with misunderstandings, but utterly excellent.

WOW. Thanks for the recs!!! I'm a bit intimidated by the fic that also reference other bandom people? Because this type of music is not actually what I usually listen to, so I know absolutely nothing of who all these other people are... like FOB and MCR and... what other groups are "bandom" groups anyway? PATD truly is my guilty pleasure, I have no idea why I like them so much. This is also the first time for me in an RPS fandom, so I've got this super-tentative hold on what "canon" is....

I am basically flailing into this fandom and will likely grasp onto others in an attempt to find my balance.

Anyway, I actually meant to link to the Halloween vid in the post but it was late and I forgot... =/

*grin* Ah, bandom fic. And RPS in general. It's such a slippery slope. I'm pretty sure Fall Out Boy fic was my introduction to RPS. As to what constitutes "Bandom," I think it fluctuates. I know what I read: MCR, Fall Out Boy, Panic (and The Young Veins), and a glance at AO3's Bandom category gives a few more names. But don't let lack of familiarity with bands stop you from reading, particularly if it's by an author who's been work you enjoy. I usually make a google search of unfamiliar names to get some background and go on with my reading. Trust good authors to show you the way.

That video was cute, but it underlines why I never picked up Pretty.Odd. Brendon's voice is spectacular, and Ryan's is...not so much. But I love Ryan's way with words. No good ever comes of songwriters wanting vocal credit on albums (see System of a Down); it's akin to trial separation and/or marriage counseling in that by the time you're at that point you might as well start dividing assets and holding down a lawyer. So, I do have some Panic recs I can point you towards, but most of it is older fic, since I kind of stopped reading in the fandom around the time of the split (so, 2009). Here's my Panic tag. Here's my Panic must reads tag. Some fics are tagged with Panic that are about more than one band, but my tags and the fics' headers and whatnot should help you out. If you need primers for other bands, here's my primers tag!

If you're looking for anything specific (genres, types of AUs, kinks, etc.), let me know. I'm sure I can dig up some specific recs if you are.

And all of you guys talking about going to this Central Park show are really making me want to be there! Why does September 1st have to be a Thursday?! :\
