I somehow stumbled across a fic by corilannam and then went through the rest of her Merlin fic. She writes really well, and while I think her endings are sometimes a teeny bit abrupt for my taste, they are still absolutely worth reading.

I don't know if you've seen all these or not (maybe not, a lot of them are so old that fandom may have moved on), but I did a Merlin rec list back when I was really into it. You might find something good that you've not read yet. (Actually, it's mostly a lot of sex, but there are some vids and some plotty stuff and some sad stuff there too).

It really was a great read! \o/ In retrospect, it makes me think of that fic... Little Thief? With the gambling and the secrets. Not sure why, maybe just the focus on Merlin's magic and the reveal....
