It was an awesome show; Rammstein puts on a fucking great performance!!! There was something to watch/look at for every song. Unfortunately this was probably a good part of the reason there was no moshing. (HOW DISAPPOINTING! T_T) Still, it was awesome for all that it was lacking in moshing. Liz and I started out around 4-ish rows back, but quickly pushed our way up to the 2nd row.
There really is nothing like the feeling of being completely unable to move in a crowd because of the press of bodies all around you; simultaneously being surrounded by fucking loud, fucking awesome music!
Hahah, toward the end of Pussy, they brought out a big cannon, painted to look like a penis -- and shot soapy foam all over the pit. And like the smart thing that I am, I got distracted, held my breath, and then realized I had to breathe and promptly inhaled the soap. And choked. Yes, I'm a fucking idiot. Everyone in the pit got wet with soapy foam. THEN they shot ticker tape out of the dick-cannon, so we were all wet, and soapy, and covered in paper.
...IT WAS KIND OF AWESOME.
They opened with Rammstein, which was great. And along the way Du Riechst So Gut, Du Hast, Links 2 3 4, and Pussy were probably my favorites of the songs they played. I would have liked to hear more from Sehnsucht (Eifersucht, or Büch Dich, or Spiel Mit Mir in particular), but the last song of the night was Engel:
Yes. That was fire shooting out of the tips of those FUCKING EPIC mechanical wings. (...Did I mention how much Rammstein uses pyrotechnics in their shows?)
Also. The opening band was Combichrist, who I was actually excited to see live! They're also a dance metal/industrial band whose songs I really like (especially to dance to at clubs). GODDAMN THEY WERE FINE. Smudgy body paint, jeans riding really low (and tight)... NNGHHHH.
