OHLOOK: Entertainment Weekly appears to have named J.K. Rowling 'Entertainer of the Year' for 2007. One of many reasons I no longer subscribe to Entertainment Weekly (other reasons included but are not limited to a massive periodical backlog I've been amassing since summer, ongoing conflicts of interest with Stephen King, and the fact that Lisa ( Read more... )

how would you keep them from getting out of their pens?
in my case, a continuous flow of good books, maple syrup, and internet would do it.

Merry Christmas to you too!

I want in the pen, too. You know I've never had real maple syrup?

And a Happy New Year! ♥

real maple syrup

As a downstate NYer, I was adamant that there wouldn't be a difference between the stuff I grew up with and the stuff my friends' parents apparently tapped from real life trees, but. Mmmm.

Mmmmmmm.

That is rather an amusing icon.

Mmmmmmm.
That's what I hear! I clearly need to order some, from somewhere. Mrs. Butterworth makes my teeth hurt. I put jam or fruit on my pancakes.

Um? Is "青天" how I want to say "BlueSkies" in Japanese? I know "空" is also a common kanji for "sky," but I think it's "sky" as in "air" as in "thin air," since "空" also seems to mean "empty," both practically and esoterically. Plus, isn't "天" "sky" like "heavens?" Help? Thank you very, very much in advance.

I did enjoy that show, but for some reason I thought his name was Brendan Fraser for quite some time after I stopped watching, but of course, it's not. Brendan is a real person who acts...not quite fic material.

anyway, this post is so weird.

...The post is weird?

I mean: You clearly lack discernment. I give you a major philosophical treatise on fanficition, and your response is that it's "weird." You, ma'am, are an unenlightened boob of the first magnitude.

I think you're just upset 'cause I said you're crazy.

MERRY META CHRISTMAS, NOKIIRAT! ♥

Oh hey guess who recently decided to skim her f-list in a more economical, time-efficient fashion and accidentally skipped a whole bunch of entries as a result. I missed five entries in a row! \o/

Er so I've heard due South is excellent, actually, and I've wanted to watch it for a while but haven't had the time. I don't have time for a lot of things, like watching all the Doctor Who I haven't yet, which is pretty much everything except the second? third? season of the revived series OH GOD. This is the real reason I want to graduate high school :( But hooooooly shit those icons really are nice and there are BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ONES TOO, I THINK I'M IN LOVE ( ... )

I've actively been avoiding my flist lately, because my brain doesn't have room for "talking" and "kanji." It's an either/or proposition. So don't worry about it, really. Really.

I've heard due South is excellentWell, it's not so much "excellent" as "singularly fascinating, like a low-speed traffic accident involving a circus train." It was on in the US when I was 14, and I thought that Fraser was, like, the most beautiful thing I had ever ever seen, ever ever. If I had had the internets back then, we are talking major survey site. Called... hmmm. "Chevalier Mal Fet," I think. As for the quality of the show, it's a sort of magical-realist cop drama in the first two seasons, and really well-done BL fanfic in the last two. All four years are infinitely more entertaining than nearly anything that's on tv now, though, so if you encounter it anyplace, watching an episode or ( ... )

Thanks for offering, but I probably won't need the link; I'm running out of space on my hard drive and Netflix has been pretty awesome so far. Thanks, though!

The Tenth Doctor is Barty Crouch, Jr. actually. If I had been a Doctor Who fan before I saw the movie I might have enjoyed it more.

I have a high tolerance for manga because I don't expect much from it, I suppose. I grew up on comics and saw manga as the more intentionally gay Japanese counterpart. Also I like laughing at it. I am a Gundam fan. I have to laugh at it or I will go insane.

Freakazoid! was pretty fantastic, but "candlejack's" also become a meme online and it started feeling like people were only adding me because of my username, so :( But LJ takes forever to purge accounts, so I'll still have time to change it back if I change my mind.

I had a great Christmas too, despite the relatives and getting mostly junk. Happy All Holidays too you too (that's a great greeting, I'll have to use that in the future).

Yeah, it's like 30GB. I only have the last two seasons on DVD, so I had to get the first two in some digital format or other. Thx 2 Demonoid, who died for my sins.

Yeah x2, manga is good for maintaining low expectations, a necessity in this world in which we live; it's just, sometimes it feels like the same manga, over and over, doing the systematic depressing.

I've never heard of candlejack memes! I try to see a meme-shaped hole in the fabric of the universe whenever possible, though, so maybe that's the reason. Anyway, I shall be on guard for new usernames at all times.

Sorry about the Christmas junk. I have the same junk-accumulation ethics as a hermit crab, so I tend to love any kind of stuff, but Christmas, awwwww. My Christmas junk was fairly hawt, and trended strongly toward Ray Bradbury.

Well, here's hoping for next year, right?

Also I like that icon.
