For those of you who aren't acquainted with my beloved, she is a writer.  A good one.  She writes character with the kind of completion that makes you feel cheated when a passage comes to a close.  It's refreshing.  I have to admit to a certain disassociation with much of the content of

I wish I did, but my Muse/inspiration/whatever-you-want-to-call-it has been missing from my life for a long time, too. Sometimes when I'm feeling an urge to be creative but have no inspiration of my own, I go to Writing Fix and click through their Right-Brained or Left-Brained Writing Prompts. I usually wind up writing little snippets of story like this, but even that is rare (notice the entry date).

I think my biggest block is in my own head. I want to write creatively, but I have so much academic writing to do that I feel guilty even opening a fic file.

I'm sure mine is mostly in my head too. But I have no guilt over other things I should be doing. I just got nothing. You know eventually you're going to run out of this academic stuff to do. THEN you'll have so much free time you won't know what to do.
