At Muir Isle (Open to all residents)

Ororo sits stiffly on the examination table, awkwardly fingering the paper gown she was wearing and staring unfocused at the plain sterile room inside the Muir Isle Research Institute. After two months of avoidance, she finally caved and made an appointment with Moira MacTaggart. She'd brought this on herself by failing to maintain Hank's ( Read more... )

"Well, as I live and breathe," Moira said with a smile as she came in, clutching Storm's folder, "A senior X-Man Makes And Keeps a medical appointment."

She's tempted to admit that she was hesitant about keeping this one, but she answers with a small smile of her own. "X-Men see the interiors of a Medlab all too often, thanks to that tyrant McCoy and occasionally, yourself and Cecilia. Regardless, thank you for taking the time to see me. It seems that the consequence of this injury refuses to be ignored, even after all this time."

Notes the rather thick chart that seems typical of all the various medical notes each X-Man has accumulated throughout the years. This does not stop what could be considered a begrudging pout from crossing her usual serene mask.

"Yui're welcome, of course." After a glance to make sure the appropriate scanner is availalble in the room, Moira pulls out her stethoscope and starts a quick run-through of the basics.

She watches Moira's efficient movements, following her various instructions. In order to distract herself she asks, "I hope your other two patients here are faring better, though one still seems to persist on being unpleasant. Any improvement with either, or is it too soon to say?"

This last week since the diagnosis might have seen him adjust well to the medication and the hallucinations retreat for the most part, but he hasn't been letting on to Moira his perceptions of stranger things going on in the corners of the his mind and the room. The last thing he wants is more medication.

Eventually the room gets stifling so he asks for permission to wander around Muir. Graydon's wing is still blocked to him, but otherwise he's fairly free to meander around anywhere with security cameras.

He's more surprised than he should be that Ororo's there, and it takes him a few moments to realize that this place isn't just an asylum, and she's probably here for her back problems. He wonders how bad they are that she's seeking help with them. "I didn't expect to see you again."

She's so preoccupied with her thoughts/non-thoughts, that she doesn't even recognize the presence behind her as she paces yet another nondescript hallway. Tom's voice cuts the distance like a knife and her voice is overly harsh with surprise and wariness at the unexpectedness of hearing it.

"I did not expect to see you roaming about as if you owned the place. How did you earn the privelige?"

The seemed hostility takes him by surprise a bit, though it shouldn't, given both her current state and how their last conversation ended (as most of their conversations do).

"I didn't try to kill the orderlies."

Clipped and succinct. "How lovely for them." She moves to walk past him as if he's no longer there. Maybe -Goddess help her- he will leave her alone.
