Geat knot. It's one of the knots we used in Army Ranger School for securing a rapelling base.

Great, indeed, and so versatile - suited for life-saving duties, to backyard crafts. I won't lie, there's even some joy in being able to whip up an ornate knot, out of the blue. I used a double-loop Dutch bowline to hang a bird feeder this spring, for no other reason that because I know how to tie one.

Great post..Very informative. I agree, we also use this knot for making base for rappelling. but for advance uses, we usually use double bowline because of some reasons.

Hope you can post some other useful knots. Thanks for sharing this idea
