I guess it’s time for the promised Puggle update. You’ll recall that I took him to the vet on Wednesday the 14th for labored breathing, and he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, with only a short time left to live.

Orny, I'm so sorry. He was a lovely cat. And to have to do that on Christmas sounds terrible. Are you okay?

"Okay" is a relative term. I guess I'm mostly okay. It would be difficult not to be dramatically affected by losing the little guy. As with any loss, the pain comes and goes, and one deals with it how one can. I've feared this day for many years, but that's also given me some time to emotionally prepare for it, too. I guess the most honest thing I can say is that I'll be fine, and it'll hurt like hell, and over time it'll be more of the former and less of the latter. Thank you for asking, Blinke.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. I really do understand the bond - Merlin has been my most treasured and faithful companion and friend for 11.8 years now and I cannot imagine life without him. Best of wishes for his soul and for you without him.
